TESTIMONIALS

Donald 1

"The elevation feature provides the ability to meet people at eye level, which I think is very important from a self-esteem point of view. It is also quite tough when people are looking down at you and worse looking over you. They don’t see you. You don’t exist. The ability to elevate alleviates that possibility" .

UNMATCHED FUNCTIONALITY

RECOVERY - GAIT RETRAINING

The AbleChair allows the users to stand and gait train with little or no help from others practically anytime.Dynamic loading of the bones is more effective in bone development than static loading. Dynamic weight bearing is loading and unloading of the skeleton that typically occurs during weight shifting in gait or stand. It is important for weight bearing activities to be routine and regular, to maintain and continue bone growth and development.

If the individual is unable to walk independently due to impairments such as muscle weakness, spasticity and poor balance, this can lead to a reduced tolerance of activity and further sedentary lifestyle, leading to increased mortality. Prolonged stay in bed or inactivity after an illness can cause muscle atrophy and the patient may lose the ability to walk

The power mobility of the AbleChair will assist users in gently moving along safely with a comfortable pace.Gait training is an essential therapeutic activity to regain walking ability (and ultimately, user independence) after stroke, spinal cord injury, and hip and knee replacement. While gait training may not fully restore gait for everyone, it can promote significant physical and mental health benefits including: joint and bone development, prevention of contractures and increased motion, improvement of lung function, better bowel and bladder function, stronger circulation, decreased constipation, diminished spasticity, minimized risk of pressure sores, improved cognition growth with environmental exploration, expanded visual awareness, and an adoption of a more active lifestyle.

INDEPENDENCE

More wheelchair functions means users are able to do more things and hence more independence.

People with disabilities also often require caregivers to assist them for various activities such as transfers, reaching high and low areas, position changes, etc. for their daily activities. By combining several essential features in one wheelchair, the AbleChair maximizes user independence.

AbleChair allows standing, elevated sitting as well as lowered sitting all the way down to the floor. In addition to health benefits, standing gives users greater independence when it comes to doing day-to-day activities. Elevated sitting provides eye-level conversations. The ability to engage at eye-level  with peers promotes better posture, emotional and social benefits. Elevated sitting allows better access and reach to higher level objects (sinks, counter tops, top shelves).

AbleChair is the only wheelchair facilitating lowered sitting, allowing access to objects on the floor.

AbleChair power mobility allows users to move inside home and work areas as well as outside effortlessly. The AbleChair also fits in wheelchair vans for transportation.

While minimizing transfers, AbleChair facilitates transfers when needed including floor transfers. By being able to always put the AbleChair in a gravity-favoring position, the user is always able to transfer into and out of the wheelchair with ease and without any additional devices.

Productivity is one of the most rewarding skills to improve and the AbleChair can help users become more productive than with other wheelchairs. AbleChair increases sitting tolerance as well as help users work in a standing position. Being able to perform standing from one’s wheelchair also minimizes transfers, thereby enhancing safety, conserving energy and reducing dependency.

HEALTH

Whether the disability is permanent or temporary, it limits their ability to participate in life-improving therapies. Significant number of gait impaired patients need to visit clinics for therapy on an ongoing basis for various reasons including reduction of ulceration, increasing bone density, improving circulation, restoring gait, and improving bowel and lung functions. Unfortunately, there are sizable limitations to requiring mobility impaired people to attend clinics including costs, needed transfers and transportations, and availability of therapy services. In addition, being in a wheelchair presents the individual with many additional tasks that must be done each day.

The AbleChair is safer than typical wheelchairs. Users may fall from wheelchairs for multiple reasons and may not be able get back up. Caregivers may also get injured while supporting or transferring the users.

The AbleChair has independent full range adjustment of tilt angle and seat angle, providing flexible and practically limitless positions to perfectly suit wheelchair users. Benefits include pressure relief, maintaining range of motion, helping to manage spasticity and increasing sitting tolerance, minimize transfers, improve bone density, provide means for weight shifts, stretch muscles, increased blood circulation, improved lung function, eliminate poor postures resulting from fatigue.
